Tim Burton is guilty!

For me making Art! :))

It's almost a year now, since I discovered the world of mailart, especially the world of ATCs.
I was fairly new at swap-bot and so many swaps were about ATCs.
As I discovered a Tim Burton-ATC-swap, I couldn't resist and googled for ATCs, to know what they were.
So here are the pics from my very first ATCs (October 2006):

Family crisis and Tom Hanks

So we had this little crisis in our family. Having 3 sisters and all of us are being stubborn and temperamental, problems and conflicts will not stay away.
Especially when the matter is caring about our Dad.
Now, hopefully the problems are soon solved and we’ll talk like adults again. Meeting and discussing next Saturday.
Yikes. Wish us luck!

Sweetie and I watched „The Terminal“ yesterday.
I’m not a huge fan of Tom Hanks, but nevertheless he’s a great actor though.
What a cool movie!
In the movie he lived his life in the airport for several months.
Amazing story.

And last but not least, I found an interesting swap on swap-bot:

Beautiful

When I send ATCs and such I mostly use cards from Unicef to send them in.
I like the motives and that most of the money from the cards will be used for the organisation.
Yesterday my order arrived and among other cards I'd choosen following beautiful cards.

Aren't they beautiful?

Also yesterday I watched "Nanny McPhee" with my Dad. It was one of the few movies, my Dad didn't doze off while watching. :-)
It's such a beautiful movie. I really love british actors and movies and I really adore Emma Thompson.

Today I'll go shopping for a warm, but not too warm, jacket for sweetie and me.
Wish me luck!

Thinking of my friend Lu, who is in China right now. I hope she feels good there and makes lot of interesting experiences.

Oh and here's a picture from the Marilyn Manson exhibition I visited with 2 friends end of August here in Cologne:

Matchboxes

I love to make shrines from matchboxes and so I started a matchbox-shrine-pif last week on Nervousness, because there are more lovers of the little shrines like me. :-)

Here are 2 pics of my shrines I already sent:

African-shrine

Spiderman-shrine

Another artsy work is the Disc from chaoticcrafts I had to art up for her.

Floppy-Disc-Deco:

Original disc

Disc front

Disc back

And here is a pic from the matchbox-fill-pif on Nervousness I’d sent out:

Last sunday one of my best friends had flew to China.
She is an artist and will teach there for a month.
Hopefully, everything will went fine for her there!!!
Her website is here!

Treasures

Some material treasures from Bad Wildbad

This dragonring was bought by my sweetie for me.
I love it a lot, also he has the tendencies to bite my clothes. *ggg*

I couldn’t leave this beautiful cup and saucer in the lovely little shop,
could I? Actually I wanted to buy this cup with a rose-motive,
but the Lady in the shop showed me some other motives and I liked
this one anymore than the cup with the roses.
It reminds me of a lovely english garden.
Of course this piece of fine bone china is from Great Britain! :-)

Dudley Moore and the Grim

Yesterday I finished a biography about Dudley Moore. It was written by his best friend Rena Fruchter and it’s called: „Dudley Moore: An Intimate Portrait“
The last years of his life, he lived with her and her family, as he became very ill (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy ).
I was crying as I read the last pages. I loved him, as I was a youngster and I can’t tell how often I saw the Arthur-films.

Like everyone on this planet I lost beloved ones, but since I’m in a relationship I fear the Grim Reaper. Until then I saw him in a natural way. Life and Death together hand in hand. It’s not that I’m now thinking it isn’t like that, but I’m not longer sure, if we live on after death. If we get another life or if the essence of a being will stay on in some way and place.

I’m saying it with Fox Mulder’s words: „I want to believe!“
But adding my own words: but I’m not sure...

Home again

Safely arrived at home last weekend. :-)
Sweetie and I were at Bad Wildbad where a friend of her has a hotel. The hotel is still closed, because it stood empty serveral years and must be renovated. So we were the only ones in that big building. Spooky. *ggg*
It was great! The air is clean and makes you hungry very often. The people are very nice here to everybody and there were so many different flowers.

We went to a tower to view the sundown. Very impressive! My cellphone got the french net on the tower. *g*

We ate a soup with chanterelles at a tavern outside and they had tables with grass in the middle of them. Very cool!

And finally the view from our room:
