My Guerilla Syle Random Acts of Kindness

The swap has started and I already let some of my ATCs free in the wild. :-)

Here's how they look like:

I did sent the first 3 ones per snail mail to people I know they could use a little cheering up. The next one was set free in a public Telephone box:

One on the floor of the Nursing home where my Dad has his apartment:

And another one in the underground on a seat:

It's a lot of fun and I sure will make lots more. You can see pics of other RAKs

weekend sweet weekend

My Dad lives almost 20 days now in the nursing home and he likes it a lot.
The people there are so wonderful and kind and the meals are tasty, so he says. :-)
He is so much healthier than before. He even manages to get up from his chair in record time.
On the other hand it's so much easier for me and my sister. We now can sleep everyday at our homes and we don't have to get up in the night to help him. No more worries, that something happens to him, while we're at work or studying! It's great to have a real life now. And it's so much fun to visit him and take walks with him.

On the craft front, I'm working on a Dia de los Muertos shrine for my Mom.
I think, she would have liked the idea and I'm very curious, how it will looks like, when it's done. I even will include some of her personal things she'd used as she lived. :-)

Tomorrow sweetie and I will go out with some of our best friends. We want to drink some Cocktails (Mojito here I come! *g*) and have fun. On sunday I'll finish some art-projects for swaps.

I'm really looking forward to this weekend! Yay!

Notice to Pets

To be posted VERY LOW on the refrigerator door - nose height.

Dear Dogs and Cats,

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this.
Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible.
I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years -- canine or feline attendance isn't required.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cats butt. I cannot stress this enough!

To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:

To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:

1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's
why they call it "fur"nature.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is
short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.

Remember: In many ways, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3. Are easier to train
4. Normally come when called
5. Never ask to drive the car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't have to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't want to wear your clothes
10. Don't need a "gazillion" dollars for college.

And finally,
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.

Guerilla Syle Random Acts of Kindness

This is such a great thing! :-)
Come and join us!

Guerilla Syle Random Acts of Kindness

Description:

Ok people, it's time to make someone feel special. I don't know about you, but when I make someone feel good, I also feel good in return. It's a win, win situation. Making someone feel special does not require money, so in this challenge, I don't want you to buy a thing. Use what you have or what is inside your beautiful mind.

This swap is inspired by the book, "Guerilla Art Kit" an awesome and inspiring read.

The premise of this swap is that you will make 3 pieces of art. Your call, it may be one of the following:

A Doodle, A Journal entry, An uplifting quote, A random lette,r An ATC, A sticker, A poem, A mini shrine, A "Dotee Doll", A stuffie, A piece of jewelry, A mixed CD, A card or postcard with a nice note, A Photo.

Anything, I am just giving some suggestions, but really, if anything, just write out an inspiring message or even a "Have A beautiful Day" message on a piece of paper.

I want you to make at least 3, but you can make as many as you want. Then I want you to leave your "art" in a random place, for a random stranger to find. I then want you to take a picture of your note or art at the place you left it.

You will have 3 partners. You will write your partner a letter and include pictures of your "Guerilla Random Act of Kindness"

It is your choice to either mail your partner a letter and your pics or you can e-mail a letter w/ pics. Please include your thoughts while you took your pic of your art at the random location. You may even want to tell your partner why you selected the location that you chose.

Come on, lets spread some amor, and please tell a friend.

I am leaving this swap open to all. Newbies and even those with less then stellar ratings too.(Here is a chance to redeem yourself =). Remember, this is all about you. Trust me, even if you don't get anything in return from your partner, (which I hope is not the case) you will sure feel good about your contribution to positiveness in this world we call home.

I do plan on blogging the results of this swap, and encourage you all to email me your stories regarding your "Random Act of Kindess"

Peace,

Yoli

shrines, shrines, shrines

A shrine I've made for the shrine-o-mine-group on swapbot.

The man is Rafael Moreira a Brazilian-born guitarist and vocalist.
My partner in this swap likes him and I thought this would be a nice surprise for her. :-)

And I've made this shrine for "The Goddes within"-group:

This is my favourite picture of Gaia, Mother Earth and I even have a figurine exactly like this. So I use her picture often in my art-making.

Dear Janis

I love this woman since I was 12 or so and got a tape of one of her albums in my hands. Read her biografie 2 years ago and I think she was a fascinating woman, like every woman.

What made her so special to me? I really don't know.

Anyway, here's some Janis-art for everyone here to enjoy:

made this 2 years ago and traded it.

made this a few weeks ago, for me. :-)

bought this adorable pendant on etsy from
ShoeString Gallery

and here's the back of the pendant
